Why The Daily Egg May Help Support a Healthy Pregnancy

We get so excited about The Daily Egg because we believe that it can help support a healthy lifestyle for everyone, but especially for high-risk folks such as pregnant women. In fact, nutrition is so important for pregnant women that it's common for women to begin taking prenatal multivitamins when they become pregnant or are considering becoming pregnant. The American College of Obstetrics and Gynecologists (ACOG) recommends prenatal vitamins as a means of supplementing key nutrients that are often lacking during pregnancy. They say that during pregnancy you need folic acid, iron, calcium, vitamin D, choline, omega-3 fatty acids, B vitamins, and vitamin C, while the Mayo Clinic also recommends vitamin E.

If you look at the chart below showing the nutritional values of The Daily Egg versus a standard egg, you'll notice that it’s packed with much of the extra nutrition the ACOG and Mayo Clinic recommend for pregnant women. While this may seem like a happy coincidence, it was actually intentional. When we were working on the special, natural diet for The Daily Egg hens, we specifically had pregnant women in mind because we know how hard it can be during pregnancy to get all the nutrition a growing baby needs.

You’ll notice that DHA Omega-3s are the star of the show in the chart below. According to this Healthline article, Doctors recommend pregnant women take 200 mg of DHA per day before, during, and after pregnancy. DHA helps support a growing baby’s brain, eye, and nervous system development. Luckily, the Daily Egg has 100 mg of DHA Omega-3, so 2 eggs a day will cover the recommended dose.

Here’s the best part about including The Daily Egg as a part of your daily diet: eggs are one of the most versatile foods in the world, so you never have to become bored with how they’re prepared. In addition, if you include them as a part of your breakfast, they are quick to prepare and healthy for the whole family, which gets everyone out the door quickly and with the nutrition they need to conquer the day.

So, if you’re pregnant, considering becoming pregnant, or are just interested in getting a boost of some of the vitamins that support a healthy lifestyle, consider including The Daily Egg as a part of your daily diet.
